Joey FerrandoAlthough Joey was known as the “Ashtabula Ohio, Assassin” where he was born, he became better known hack in 1931 as being from the Marion section of Jersey City.

He defeated such as Harry Mosco, Carmen Roman, The Carlton Brothers, Allie Ridgeway, Young Zazz, had a win and a draw with Herman Follins, defeated ‘Pete Gulitta twice, Charley Gomer, Pooeo Villa, Lou Lombardi twice, “Kid” Wolf and Hermon Perlick.

He became N.J. lightweight Champ by defeating Harry Carlton in a 12 round bout. Had a draw with Joe Ghnorely, defeated Cocoa Kid, Chino Alvarez, Jimmy Brady, had a win and loss to Teddy Loder, defeated Frirzie Zivic twice, lew Feldman twice, Eddie Cool, Chalky Wright, Mickey Maker, Tony Morgano, Frankie Cinque and had a win and loss with Steve Halaiko

With a total of 17,5 bouts and only 6 losses he compiled a good record. The losses were all due to cuts over the eyes, a rough handicap to overcome. He was a stable mate of Petey Scalzo and was managed by Pete Reilly and at one time was the 5th ranked lightweiqht in the World. Good luck Joey and Welcome to the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame.
