I started boxing at 15 years. I joined the Harvey Crosey Gym at 33rd St., Bayonne & NJ Y MCA. in 1938. I had a number of amateur bouts. I then joined Joe Bufamos Gym in 1940, and was Golden Gloves Champion weighing 112 Ibs. I joined the CCC stationed in Morristown NJ. I joined Bucky Jones Gym in Morristown. Boxed in Westpoint in 1941,went on to championship in Trenton, NJ.
I was discharged from the CCC and went back to Joe Bufamos Gym. I was managed by Joe, Danny & Dominick Bufano. I boxed Eddie Herman and Walter Stevens. In 1943 I entered the Air Force to serve in World War II. I went to Richmond Virgina, in Springcamp I boxed in Washington D.C, Chalkey Wright. Then I was shipped overseas to England. Iboxed Eric Boon Lightweight Champion of England. I returned home in 1945 and went to Jersey City Garden Gym. Stanley Poreda managed and trained me, Joey Costa assisted. Phil Brooks managed my first fight out of the Air Force to Terry Kip of New York. I stopped him in 4 rounds. Joe Manan by decision, Walter Jorden, I stopped in 4 rounds. I was on a string of knockouts, in West Mass. & Fort McArther NY. I boxed Sunny Side George Smith, in Havenstraw N.H.
I also boxed in the Jersey City Garden, and in Atlantic City NJ. I was Lightweight Champion and Middleweight Champion in 1949.
I retired from the ring and re-entered as a trainer and manager. I trained a lightweight a welterweight and a very good heavyweight. Duke Stanafo and Jimmy Colotto were the promoters.
I am married for 51 years to Marie Peddie. I have two daughters Joan and Kathleen. My daughter Joan has two children Renee and Michael. My daughter Kathleen has three children Kathleen, Thomas and John.
I went back to school at 26 years old Dicken H.S. Jersey Prep. I graduated in 1951 and went to Fairleigh Dickens College from 1951 to 1953. I entered Columbia Institute of Chiropractic in 1953 to 1957, and graduated with a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree. I started a Chiropractic Practice in 1957 and still maintain it today.
