Danny DeMarco PictureDanny was born January 14, 1912, in Roselle Park, New Jersey, where he lived all his life. He started boxing as a teenager and he first trained at the Faitoute Firehouse in Roselle Park, and then at the Elizabeth Armory, where he had his first few bouts. He went on to fight in the 1932 Golden Gloves where he won a Gold Belt in the welterweight division.

Danny continued on and served the sport of boxing in every way that he could. He was a Past President, Vice President and Secretary of the Union County Boxing Association and a member of the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame.

As a member of 3946 Knights of Columbus of Roselle, New Jersey, Danny worked with his good friend Dick Hussey as a trainer for young boxers. For many years he helped with the Tony Orlando Memorial Fights at the Church of the Assumption in Roselle Park.

Aside from his family his first “love” was the ring. He was a humble yet proud man, who could never do enough for the sport of boxing.

Danny passed away on June 9, 1979, and our hearts are stilI heavy in losing him. But he has left so much behind him and has touched so many lives with his friendship and love for his fellow man.

It is with much heartfelt “thanks” from his family, to the Hall of Fame, for their honoring of Danny here tonight.”
