Congratulations goes out to 2007 New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame Inductee, Melvina Lathan.

New York Gov. David Paterson has selected longtime boxing judge and 2007 New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame Inductee, Melvina Lathan to head the New York State Athletic Commission, which regulates professional boxing in New York.

Lathan, who replaces Ron Scott Stevens as chairman, says protecting the health, safety and welfare of boxers is her primary objective. She has judged 83 world championship fights and was confirmed by the Senate last year as the first female African-American commissioner.

Our Congratulations goes out to Melvina and her husband Dr. William Lathan, as I am sure she will make us all proud.

On a very sad note, Audrey De Vino the wife of 1991 Hall of Famer Archie De Vino passed away on July 20th. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Archie and his family.
